Jen Hanen is a web designer and developer of 25+ years, a photographer, a writer, a teacher, and a traditional astrologer. I have been studying astrology since 2010 and formally with Austin Coppock since 2020. I am a graduate and a teaching assistant for Austin Coppock’s three year Fundamentals of Astrology (FOA) program.

I am most interested in Ancient and Medieval styles of astrology, as well as having a deep interest in theurgy, ancient mythologies, and histories from many cultures. I came to astrology from astro-photography and I still spend a good deal of time looking at the night skies.

My style is conversational and pragmatic. I want to see you succeed.

Preliminary Initiation Research Data & Astrological Timing

After my own initiation into the paranormal by illness two separate times in my life - where I had vivid pre-coginitive dreams, out-of-body experiences, and contacted story idea downloads - I became interested in exploring if one could see an initiatory experience into magic, spirituality, a lineage, and/ or a deity practice in a person's birth chart or in astrological timing signatures.

What resulted was a survey, a series of interviews, and then a data study of over 65 people who had one or more self-described initiations into magic, the paranormal, or spirit contact.

What came out of the study was a clear set of signatures in both the birth chart and in the timing of whether the initiation experience was by self-study, lineage, a formal magic or spiritual order, or if it happened to them unasked by other methods such as psychedelic experiences.
I had studied astrology for six years by self-study before starting to take classes in 2016 with Austin Coppock, Chris Brennan, Demetra George, and Kelly Surtees. I was very happy in February of 2020 to sign up for Austin's full three year Fundamentals of Astrology program.

What I greatly appreciate about Austin's approach to teaching and to the subject of Astrology is that it doesn't matter if one is a beginner or has been practicing or studying for years, as there is a good structure to start with and many gems for folks who want to deepen into their own practice.

In the three years of the FOA program, as well as through my FOA grad project, I was able to take what I learned and help tie up many scattered threads of thought, history, astrology, myth, theurgy, and spiritual inquiry into a much stronger and beautiful philosophical fabric.

In fact, I loved Austin's program so much, I teach for FOA now.
