October 12, 2020Astrology of Wednesday, October 14th 2020
October 14, 2020Though the Moon makes a number of exact aspects today, there are two celestial events which over-rule the rest. Mercury stations retrograde and the Sun and Mars make a perfect opposition. Though separate, these two are entirely entangled.
Retrograde Mars in Aries’ opposition with the Sun marks the dead center of the retrograde. It is the point at which Mars and the Earth are closest, Mars is brightest, and the red planet rises just as the Sun sets, and sets just as the Sun rises. While the Sun in Libra asks for balance, red Mars cries for conflict.
While the Sun and Mars play tug o’ war on opposite sides of the Earth, Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio, a Mars-ruled sign. Mercury gives voice to Mars’ bellicose sentiments, here delivering messages which, like Mercury, change the direction that things will take.
From here until the 18th, the Sun will cross the harshed degrees between aspects to Mars, Pluto, and Saturn, while retrograde Mercury stumbles back into another opposition with Uranus. Today is thus the beginning of a particularly harsh stretch.
