The Sun rises in Sagittarius today, but will set in Capricorn, marking Friday as the solstice, the point of maximum polarization between day and night. The longest day in the South, the longest night in the North, Friday is the pivot between seasons and in many senses, the real New Year. Though the preceding weeks have been uplifted by the Sun’s copresence with buoyant Jupiter in Sagittarius, the coming month will expose the Sun to the dark gravity of Saturn, Pluto and the Dragon’s Tail, all of which it will cohabitate with in Capricorn.
The day itself is host to some rather pleasant configurations. The Venus-Neptune trine smooths rough edges while the Mercury-Jupiter conjunction provides a celebratory, optimistic and clearheaded influence.
