I've known Ficino as a deeply insightful Renaissance thinker and looked forward to this workshop as a way to dive into his astrology. Austin's overview is really helpful in orienting the listener to the history of his time (briefly of course) before unpacking his ideas about astrology and especially remediation.

I now have a much better context for understanding Ficino in context, as he navigated a time in which part of what he exploried was forbidden and still compelling. I'm looking forward to reading the The Books with my notes and the video to refer to.

Ficino's approach to remediation and astrological magic as one of working with, supporting, and making the most of, rather than controlling or forcing, really resonates with me, so I'm especially looking forward to learning more there.
