The Sun and Venus both change signs on Wednesday. The Sun enters Sagittarius and Venus dives into Scorpio. The second half of the week is dominated by Mars in Capricorn’s square with Uranus and subsequent sextile with Saturn in Scorpio. Meanwhile, Mercury slows his retro-roll in anticipation of Monday’s turn direct. All the while, the Moon grows, gathering more and more light in preparation for next Wednesday’s Lunar Eclipse.
The Sun moves into Sagittarius on Wednesday. The Sun’s time in Sag spotlights the direction we’re taking our lives and our ability to unify the different areas of life and parts of self in pursuit of those goals. Hands, eyes, bow, arrow and target all become one in the pragmatic conjunctio of Sagittarius. The Sun will be riding through the strange plains of Sagittarius until the Solstice, on December 21st.
Venus Enters Scorpio: A Sweet Sting
The same day, Venus leaves the equilibrium of Libra behind, plunging into the tunnels of Scorpio. Venus is considered to be in her detriment in Scorpio, emotionally sensitizing us to a variety of passions and poisons in need of processing. Because Venus’ pass through Scorpio often activates negative feelings and impedes attempts to enjoy simple pleasures, there is often a corresponding temptation to compensate with toxic pleasures. Toxicity is, however, dose-dependent, and with the right amount administered, many poisons are powerful cures. We’ll be dealing with the syringe-toting morning star in goth make-up until December 15th, when Venus moves into Sagittarius.
The second half of the week is dominated by Mars in Capricorn’s square to Uranus in Aries and subsequent sextile with Saturn in Scorpio. Eruptions of energy and storms of insight threaten to sideline important operations. The impetus here is to figure out how to weave the red lightnings loose this season into the fabric of your master plan. This sequence won’t be complete until Mars’ conjunction with Pluto next week.
Sorry! No time for horoscopes this week. I’m busy editing my 2013 Astrological Almanac, which will soon be available for pre-sale. Horoscopes will return next week, just in time for Mercury’s direct station, a potent Lunar Eclipse and Mars’ intense conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn.
