August 1st-7th: Spin Cycle
August 1, 201115th-21st: Gilded Tempest
August 15, 2011The 2nd not-so-great week in a row, this one will see us through the most stressful planetary configurations we’ll have to wrestle with for the rest of the year. In addition to the difficulties augured by the planetary positions, the earth will also be subject to moderate-to-strong solar storms for much of the week, troubling electronics far and wide. Retrograde Mercury re-enters Leo on Monday, opposing Neptune in Aquarius, fogging communications considerably. Wednesday and Thursday are relatively nightmarish, with the Grand Cross that shook markets and fueled conflicts last week firing up again something fierce. Saturday’s Full Moon brings it all to a crescendo, wreathing the madness in silvery light, but also glinting off the storm cloud’s golden lining.
From the Lion’s Mouth
A retrograde Mercury travels back into Leo on Monday, where the quick planet will spend the next month. Almost immediately upon re-entering Leo, Mercury opposes Neptune, now in Aquarius. Retrograde Mercury opposite Neptune sees the messenger searching the through great cloud of belief, in search of concrete truths and finding little. Many of the opinions people come to on Monday and Tuesday will later prove to have little foundation in act. Needless to say, do not schedule important meetings or make important life decisions on these days.
Reunion Show
Mercury will spend more than the next month in Leo. For the next 2 weeks the retrograde messenger becomes a black and gold clad coyote, sneaking us across guarded borders into the well defended enclaves of our heart’s desire. The Sun strides forward to meet Mercury and behind races Venus, eager to make the crucial meet. The reunion won’t happen until the 16th-17th, but we’ll be feeling it all week.
Grand Crosshairs
The astral storm system which struck last week hits again this one. A general storm warning blankets the week, but it’s Mars in Cancer and ole Kronos in Libra. Some ugly macro- stuff is likely to go down, with the markets taking some serious hits, weird weather afoot and violent events aplenty.
For most people, the most dangerous aspect of this configuration is the locust swarm of unbalanced states of mind unleashed- fear, anger, worry and the rest of Mara’s wrecking crew. No matter what your spiritual orientation is, this week is an excellent one to practice being a Buddhist saint, unarmed but for the invulnerable clarity of mind you wield.
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain
-Frank Herbert, Dune Series
Don’t engage with the drama you see developing around you, or let ambient panic infect you. Budget time to do the extra problem solving necessary. Don’t be upset if things don’t go as planned or get delayed. Don’t freak out on people because they’re freaking out. This too, shall pass.
One of Many
After an “exciting” week, Saturday’s Full Moon will bring the changes, both unpleasant and promising, to a crescendo. The Full Moon in Aquarius comes Saturday afternoon, although that Moon will be looking mighty full both Friday and Saturday nights. In general, this Full Moon illuminates us our personal truth in the context of the collectives we comprise. The full significance of an individual’s life can only be revealed in reference to the time their time and place, as well as the people which with they lived. Our place both as individuals as well as collective beings is outlined in silver.
This Full Moon opposes the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Leo gathered together, spotlighting the invisible trinity of the mind, passions and spirit slowly coagulating, and providing a meaningful segue into next week’s personal revelations.
Horoscopes
Horoscopes are not a real chart reading by an experienced astrologer. However, they are fun and can be reasonably accurate. In addition to referring to your Sun sign, read your from Ascendant and Moon if you know them. If you don’t, find out. I’m a long time fan of the free chart generation software at astro.com.

Thanks AP – after the shit sammich last week I could use something to look forward too.
I have to be frank Austin – although I no longer have the taste of shit in my mouth, I have figured out a damn thing about what is or isn’t wrong and what to do about it…now all I seem to feel is lethargic.
sorry – it should read I HAVEN’T (err da durr)
