March 30, 2018Astrology of Saturday, March 31st 2018
March 31, 2018The Sun enters the second decan of Aries on March 30th and will be within that face’s span of degrees until April 9th. Venus enters Taurus on Friday the 30th, and the Full Moon in Libra rises the nights of the 30th and 31st. On April 1st, retrograde Mercury unites with the Sun, and then backs into a frictive square with Mars and Saturn, conjoined, whose unrelenting pace dominates all of this decan’s days.
The second face of Aries is a place of sovereign Solar potency. It is considered to be ruled by the Sun by both primary methods of attributing planetary rulership, and is also host to the Sun’s single degree of exaltation, in which Sol is more potent than in any of the other 359.
The first decan of Aries gives way to the second, as the Conqueror is succeeded by the Ruler. With the power of the first decan, we clear a path for ourselves. With the power of the second, we walk it as our own, and the way we do so changes not only ourselves, but the world around us. We are all wandering Kings and Queens, Johnny Appleseeds planting heavens and hells as we move from experience to experience.
If we are, in truth, each the divine Sovereign of our world, then our Will is our crown. It is our ability to decide and to intend, our capacity to change the trajectory of otherwise mechanical chains of events. The Will proceeds from the spirit, like a relentless solar wind which emanates from a seemingly inexhaustible star. Will is not unlike water in that it steadily and slowly erodes resistance. But Will’s waves are of fire and light, lapping gently at all obstacles, interpenetrating them, transforming them.
Such is source of divine power available to all at all times. One must simply move the unmoved mover within. We can start or stop willing at any moment. This is because it does not depend on anything. It obeys no pre-conditions or requirements, but our own.
Our Will is our royal crown, descended from the heavens. So long as we Will, we are constantly changing the world we inhabit, for this reality is our Kingdom. Lords and Ladies of all we survey, for our gaze changes the very territory upon which it sweeps.
We remember and familiarize ourselves with our capacity for Will when there is friction. Stay still for longer than is comfortable. Move for longer than is comfortable. Your will is the King’s voice, which brings unity to the contradictory Kingdom of Self. You have run for a long time, and your leg muscles advise you to quit. You disregard this advice, and the potency of your Will is made clear.
We cannot see the Will when there is no resistance. Resistance is thus necessary. Fortunately, this span of days provides plenty. The harsh conjunction of Mars and Saturn in Capricorn is key to the configurations which occur during this decan’s span of days. The Full Moon in Libra spotlilghts the Mars-Saturn conjunction and retrograde Mercury also casts his gaze over the dire pairing.
The Mars-Saturn conjunction stirs up all manner of challenge and difficulty. This bramble-strewn path requires the severity of Will. Yet the sovereign ability to command can be dangerous. Without compassion to guide us in the application of our Will, we can push our bodies and our loved ones past the breaking point. The necessity of balancing severity with mildness, heroic effort with langorous repose, is made clear by the Full Moon in Libra on Friday the 31st.
Furthermore, while the brilliant Sun in the royal second decan of Aries reminds us of our sovereignty, the Full Moon in relational Libra asks us to remember that all around us share that divine status. For though each of us is a node of autonomy, we are woven into the very chain of being itself, which is not a single strand, but a massive net, each luminous link connected to many others. We are a web of light, and together we weave the fabric of the Real. Compassion must therefore always advise Will.
So let us remember the legendary strength within, and be bold and relentless during those moments which require it. Yet let us also balance this severity with mildness. Each moment of patience and kindness pulls an unbalanced period of time back toward equilibrium.
This decan is lined with difficult configurations, but the gauntlet ends shortly thereafter. Though they will still be in Capricorn for another month and a half, after Monday April 2nd Mars and Saturn will begin to separate, like the jaws of a vice slowly opening and thus reducing the pressure. Mercury’s retrograde will also not endure that much longer, for the direct station waits on Sunday April 15th, just over the next hill.

Where are the individual horoscopes?
Thanks for all that you do!
If horoscopes don’t show up on an article, it means they weren’t written for that piece.
I am a big fan of your work and am considering your online classes.
Can or will you share your thoughts on Constellations versus Tropical Astrology?
In your opinion, is one system used by the ruling classes{Constellations} and the other by the people? It seems to be that way historically.
Thank you again ! Brilliant perspectives !
Thank you, Austin. Will be signing up for a reading soon. You offer warrior comfort.
Love the image of Will as royal crown.
