8th-14th: Fear Is The Mind-Killer
August 8, 2011Aug. 22nd-28th: 'Round The Wheel Goes
August 22, 2011After a harrowing pair of weeks, this one sees golden light creep through the storm clouds, though it does not disperse them. We have entered a phase of this August’s process which can be likened to a centrifuge- the storms spinning off the inessential in order to clarify our view of the heart of affairs. This week sees the storm-centrifuge spin, though it is unlikely to spin out the same level of chaos as in past weeks.
Monday and Tuesday’s Pisces Moon is relatively mellow, but the Moon’s run through Aries midweek touches off another Cross yet looks simultaneously over the rare and kind-of-wonderful triple conjunction of Mercury RX, Venus and the Sun in Leo. This packs the middle of the week with both action and revelation, while the Moon’s transition into Taurus on Friday bring things back down to earth for the weekend.
Storm System
The Cardinal Cross of previous weeks loosens a bit this week, but the chaos engine will still fire intermittently for the rest of the month. This week, it is the Moon’s movement through the first half of Aries on Tuesday night and Wednesday that keeps the blades spinning. We can look forward to the final installment on the 25th when the Moon traverses Cancer.
Grand Crosses like this one set too many things spinning at once. It is often not that any one thing is that terrible or overwhelming, but that the coincidence of several simultaneous issues creates chaos, pushing things temporarily beyond the limits of control. This cross set events into motion over the first two weeks of August, and over the next few, we’ll work out the issues that have emerged, slowly bringing things back into a manageable state.
Smells Like The Future
Despite the market chaos, Middle Eastern death tolls and cold island riots, August’s grand cross has done us at least one favor. It has, by means of hyperbole, made the effect of Uranus in Aries’ pending square with Pluto in Capricorn quite clear. Uranus and Pluto are edging toward the dance floor for a multi-year tango. The two bodies will square each other over and over again from now until 2015, sowing the next several year’s big conflicts.
This dance will be reflected through the prism of culture as the “Pissed Off People vs. The Evil Empire.” The next several years hold a series of intense clashes that will play out between an angry populace and desperate systems of control. It’ll look like more revolutions in the Middle East, and perhaps elsewhere. It’ll look like riots, protests and disorder in the house-broken West. It’ll look like rogue hackers attacking big corporations. It’ll also look like regimes cracking down on the populace, States passing more draconian decrees in response to public disorder, and governments and corporations pushing to police the internet in response to hacker action. It’s aggressively idealistic chaos vs. brutally realistic order. Welcome to the next several years.
Triple Crown
The Sun, Mercury and Venus in Leo all conjoin within a degree of each other this Tuesday and Wednesday, a secret meeting shrouded by the blast furnace of the Sun’s rays. This rare triple conjunction aligns and fuses the mind, passions and spirit for a brief series of moments, bringing an intense, if autistic, clarity to questions of who we are and how we represent ourselves. This conjunction is a major point in processes of personal redefinition. It is the molten gold discovered here that we will soon impress with a new image, minting the Self we are becoming.
This series of conjunctions is of psychologically relevant for everyone, but it is especially important for those whose livelihoods depend upon public relations and public perception- it is the beginning point of a new strategy of self representation, a new public identity. This will no doubt be important for both Barack Obama, whose golden boy persona has sustained a number of unsightly dents, as well as for the Republican hopefuls, whose relative roles have yet to be established.
Horoscopes
Horoscopes are not a real chart reading by an experienced astrologer. However, they are fun and can be reasonably accurate. In addition to referring to your Sun sign, read your from Ascendant and Moon if you know them. If you don’t, find out. I’m a long time fan of the free chart generation software at astro.com.
