Seattle Lecture and Workshops

I’ll be in Seattle the 13th-21st of September and have a few events planned the 16th, 17th and 18th. There will be a free lecture at Edge of the Circle Books on Friday, the 16th.  On Saturday, the 17th, I’ll be leading an Astrology Boot Camp.  Finally, on Sunday the 18th, a workshop on the intersection between Astrology and Ritual Magick.   I should also have time for a few consultations while I’m in town.

To sign up for one of the workshops or book a consult, just email me at ac@austincoppock.com.  Here’s the info on the lecture and workshops:

FRIDAY’S LECTURE

Citizens of History:  Mundane Cycles and Us

Evey time we turn on the news, we hear that everything’s changing.  China’s a superpower now and the US isn’t.  The environment is ruined and is going to destroy us all.  Or not. Oh, and the Rapture is coming, not to mention the Super-Duper New Age Enlightenment of 2012.

Beneath the hype, hope and fear, there are some important transitions occurring.  We’ll spend the evening breaking down what the Astrology of History can tell us about our decade, covering geopolitical tectonics, cyborgs, corporate power, the Apocalypse, the ghost of Marx and more.

Join me on Friday, September 16th at Edge of the Circle Books for a foray into the crossroads of History, Astrology and Futurism.

When? September 16th, 7:00-9:00 PM

Where? Edge of the Circle Books

SATURDAY’S WORKSHOP

Basics Bootcamp

Learning astrology is difficult.  Even the best books on astrology tend to dump a pile of gears in your lap and tell you to make a watch.  The secret isn’t the pieces- it’s how they fit together.

Strap on your steel thinking cap and brew that coffee strong, because Saturday the 17th we’re going to blaze through the fundamentals, defining and exploring the interlock of Signs, Planets, Aspects and Houses.  We’ll define the fundamentals for the beginner and connect the dots for the journeyman.

You’ll walk away with more a working watch- not just a pile of gears.  Everyone who attends will also receive a free digital recording of the workshop, a pile of Astrology cheat-sheets and exercises for further study.

When?  Saturday, Sept. 17th, 12:30-5:30 PM

Where?  Hiawatha Lofts, 843 Hiawatha Place So. Seattle, WA 98144

How Much?  $60 last minute registration.  $50 with registration on or before Sept. 12th.  Sign up for both workshops and get $15 off! Limit 12 people.

 Sunday Workshop

Astrology, Ritual and Magick

Astrology, ritual and magick have a long and storied history together.  You can’t crack a grimoire without finding a host of astrological code, nor can you scratch the surface of a once-pagan holiday before you discover the ritual timing encoded into it.

Over the last century, Astrology strayed from its relationship with ritual, but the last decades have seen the arte beginning to reclaim its forgotten heritage.  Books of planetary magick are surfacing and witches and magicians everywhere are discovering the value of astrologically timing their workings.

We’ll spend Sunday the 18th exploring the intersection between the two, looking over tools both simple and complex for timing rituals with both practical and gnostic aims.  In addition to covering different types of workings, we’ll also cover the proper configurations for working with different types of spirits- angels, demons, gods and the dead- oh my!

Explore the lost synergy between astrological and magickal practice and learn the age-old methods of harnessing the currents of time to your work.

When?  Sunday, Sept. 18th, 12:30-5:30 PM

Where?  Hiawatha Lofts, 843 Hiawatha Place So. Seattle, WA 98144

How Much?  $60 last minute registration.  $50 with registration on or before Sept. 12th.  Sign up for both workshops and get $15 off! Limit 12 people.
