The Moon wanes over a week of transitions.   Mercury enters Pisces on Monday, starting things off with the messenger’s shift into the spacey, imaginative sign.  The middle of the week is hampered by Venus in Aries’ square to Pluto in Capricorn, providing a few irritations and smothering some excitement.  Meanwhile, the Sun stays in an applying trine with a retrograde Saturn for much of the week, lending it a certain heaviness.  Finally, on Saturday night, the Sun joins Mercury in Pisces, signaling our descent into the creative and confusing depths that will define the next lunar month.

Murkury

The week begins with Mercury’s  entry into the depths of Pisces.  Murky, alcoholic and cosmic, Mercury’s time in Pisces fuzzes out the codifying mind, blurring communications and confusing to-do lists.  The quality of ambient mental energy is less than useful for practical purposes, but can be very inspiring for a variety of creative activities. Mercury will be in Pisces until March 2nd, though the messenger will return, retrograde, to the watery sign at the end of March.

The disoriented and dreamy influence of Mercury in Pisces is exaggerated by Mercury’s initial conjunction with Neptune on Monday night.   Later in the week, Mercury sextiles Jupiter in Taurus, giving communications a positive edge that may offset the frustrations triggered by Venus’ passing square with Pluto.

Valentine’s Day Special

Venus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn for the first half of the week.  This passing configuration pulls the emotional energies inward, suppressing surface joys and heightening irritations.  A little excitement may be smothered, but it will swiftly pass.

Sploosh

The Sun in Aquarius spends the majority of the week in an applying trine with Saturn in Libra, highlighting obligations, obstacles and generally lending the work week a take-care-of-business undertone.  Try and wrap up this lunar cycle’s series of tasks before Saturday.

On Saturday night, the Sun moves into Pisces, pulling us into the oft-neglected depths of the psyche.  Subtlety, creativity and imagination thrive beneath these waves, as do confusion, laziness and craziness.  Almost immediately upon entering the shoreline of the aquatic sign, the Sun conjoins hallucinatory Neptune in Pisces for the first time in century and a half.  Pour a little on the floor for the king of dreams and save the rest for yourself.  Sunday is similarly smothered in Neptunian haze, temporarily obscuring concrete matters.

In Summary

The week moves from tension to release, but also from order to protean confusion.  Try and finish up concrete tasks and take care of business this week, as next Tuesday’s New Moon in Pisces starts of what will no doubt be a very disorienting lunar cycle.

Horoscopes

Horoscopes are not a real chart reading by an experienced astrologer. However, they are fun and can be reasonably accurate. In addition to referring to your Sun sign, read your from Ascendant and Moon if you know them. If you don’t, find out. I’m a long time fan of the free chart generation software at astro.com.
