Sunday begins with the Moon in Sagittarius’ trine to fiery Venus in Aries. Though Moon-Venus trines are often strictly pleasurable, in this case Venus is less than two-weeks away from her retrograde station, and thus more complicated experiences are likely. The Moon’s subsequent square with foggy Neptune in Pisces blurs things, making it more difficult to stay focused for the ensuing hours.
As the day lengthens, though, the Moon moves on to a rather straightforward trine with Mars in Aries, giving the second half of the day, as well as much of night, with a rowdy, energetic and contentious quality. Late night, after the Moon’s aspect to Mars has fades, it is replaced with a thoughtful sextile to Mercury.

Saturday’s first bit of action is the waning Moon’s entrance into Sagittarius. Almost immediately thereafter, the Moon makes a square to the newly-ingressed Sun in Pisces, marking our introduction to the fourth quarter of the lunar month and guaranteeing that a half-moon will rise Saturday night. You may find today comes with a need to adjust your pace and orientation. Pause for a moment, and if necessary, correct your trajectory.

Friday begins with the moody Moon in Scorpio’s square with logical Mercury in Aquarius. It may be challenging to reconcile ideas and emotions on Friday. Clashes between objective and subjective viewpoints may be an issue.
Late night, closer to dawn than sunset, the Sun sneaks into Pisces. In Pisces, the Sun sparkles across life’s oceans, highlighting its great currents and vast expanse. Questions of meaning, personal and collective, are illuminated, as are a few rare sights from the depths. The Sun will be in Pisces until the Equinox, on March 20th.

Thursday hosts the sextile of Mercury in Aquarius and Mars in Aries. This configuration pours jet-fuel into the brain, charging thoughts and setting tongues aflame. Find a problem to solve or mental challenge to overcome. Avoid discussions which require sensitivity or high-level listening skills.
After nightfall, a trine between the Moon in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces washes away the day’s fiery ideas, pulling things towards rumination, fantasy, indulgence and distraction.

Wednesday morning may hold some surprises, as it begins with the Moon in Libra’s activation of the Jupiter-Uranus opposition, opening the way for a volatile mix of optimism, unorthodoxy, rebellion and adaption. As the day ages, though, the Moon moves on to a business-like sextile to Saturn, a useful-if-not-ecstatic configuration.
Evening’s approach sees the Sun and Moon in a pleasing trine, the harmony between the lights providing for general accord. Finally, later Wednesday night, the Moon enters Scorpio, tugging things into moodier territory.

Tuesday begins with a conversational trine between the Moon in Libra and Mercury in Aquarius, filling the morning with a generous helping of cognitions. Thereafter, though, Luna moves on to oppose harsh Mars in Aries. Mars cracks the whip here, pushing things forward at a pace that may be less than pleasant.
Though the Moon’s opposition with Mars fades by sundown, there is a Moon-Pluto square Tuesday night which can be unsettling or uncomfortable. It is a less-than-ideal configuration for those celebrating Valentine’s Day, though by no means insurmountable.

There is little action above on Sunday. The practical Moon in Virgo makes a trine to Pluto in Capricorn during the afternoon. This lends these hours a capacity for additional depth, but does not promise anything of a particularly dramatic nature.
Evening sees the Moon on approach to an oppressive late-night square with Saturn in Sagittarius. It may thus be a bit joyless, uncomfortable or worrisome, but the aspect will pass with night’s end.

Saturday begins with the Moon’s ingress into practical Virgo and the Sun in Aquarius’ trine to Jupiter in Libra. The Moon’s shift into Virgo helps ground out some of the heartfelt intensity of the previous night, while the Sun-Jupiter trine pulls the gaze upwards, so that we can see how our balance might be improved, our trajectory adjusted for additional stability. Both of these serve to mitigate the intensity yesterday’s lunar eclipse.
Evening sees the Moon slide steadily toward a late-night opposition with Neptune in Pisces, a fuzzy, unfocused configuration which will tend to pull the night off topic and into intoxication.

Friday hosts a penumbral eclipse of the Moon in Leo. This is the first of several eclipses on the Leo-Aquarius axis, and thus serves to introduce themes which will be active well into 2018. The eclipse will be visible, at least in part, on every inhabited continent except Australia. This tension between the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo represents the polarity between the observer and the performer, the actor and the critic. Many people will experience this, and subsequent eclipses in this series, as a call to abandon the peanut gallery for a place on stage.
Yet the reddened Moon does not present such issues in a clear, rational manner. There is an emotional intensity and volatility about the day which may be difficult to manage.

Thursday begins with the Moon in Leo’s opposition to Mercury in Aquarius and subsequent trine with Venus in Aries, a configuration which juxtaposes the heart and the mind, and necessitates a reconciliation thereof. Meanwhile, the Sun in Aquarius sextiles Uranus in Aries, charging the atmosphere and providing for surprises and flashes of insight.

Wednesday sees the Moon make a brief grand cross with Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Libra. The tone of the day swings from grumpy to manic to mellow and back again. Tuesday’s first piece of astrological business is a square between the Moon in Cancer and Mars in Aries. This is an itchy and temperamental aspect, with irritations and ill-moods likely. It is easier to focus on accomplishment than on harmonious relations.
After the Moon’s inflammatory square with Mars comes a cooling, anesthetic trine with Neptune in Pisces. Irritation gives way to soothing distraction, which holds sway throughout much of the night. The wee hours, however, see the Moon approach an opposition with Pluto, which opens the way for worry.

Monday is busy with aspects. First, the active Moon in Gemini sextiles electric Uranus, giving the day an early jolt. The Moon then moves on to a trine with stationing Jupiter in Libra, giving the mid-day a pleasant and rather contemplative air. Luna then encounters a much less kindly opposition to Saturn in Sagittarius, which highlights obligations and obstacles, and may desaturate the ambiance.
After night falls and deepens, the Moon escapes the last, frayed degrees of Gemini and slips into soothing Cancer, in whose tide-pool Luna will reside for the next couple of days. Night also conceals Mercury’s ingress into Aquarius. The swift planet is well-suited to the abstract, detached orientation of the Water-Bearer’s sign, and its time there is thus appropriate for a wide variety of analytical and contemplative activities. Mercury will be in Aquarius until February 25th.
Finally, so late in the night so as to be morning, the Moon makes a brief, perhaps uncomfortable, square with Venus in Aries.

The sunlit portion of Saturday hosts an afternoon trine between the Moon in Taurus and Mercury in Capricorn. This is a useful aspect for both mental work and play. If you have scheduling or thinking to do, Saturday afternoon will provide the appropriate ambiance.
Come night, the Moon enters Gemini, bringing with it additional conversations and considerations. The Moon makes a sextile to newly-ingressed Venus in Aries later Saturday night, kindling additional enthusiasm and providing a good backdrop for social occasions. Late, late Saturday night, Luna makes an awkward square to the nodal axis, which may serve to muddy the latter portion of the evening. You may not want to be out too late.

Friday begins with Venus’ entry into Aries. In the Ram’s sign, Venus’s light falls on colorful and kinetic spectacles. The evening star’s light kindles raging fires in the heart, but also presides over the resulting ash. Due to her upcoming retrograde, Venus will spend an unusually long period of time in Aries this year. Take note of the relational matters which present themselves, as complicated issues are due to be uncovered, one layer at a time.
Other than Venus’ ingress, the day is characterized primarily by the difference between the abstract Sun in Aquarius and the grounded Taurus Moon. This may play itself out as friction between intellectual and sensual inclinations, or the juxtaposition of immediate, practical matters with larger concerns.

Thursday begins with the Moon in the midst of a series of discussions. Fresh from Wednesday night’s conjunction with Uranus, the Moon starts the day by triggering the Mercury-Jupiter square, which is exact today. The challenge here is to reconcile rational assessments with hopes and positive possibilities. Consider the relationship between your expectations and aspirations — they are not one in the same, nor should they be. Each is valuable in its own way. Shortly after spotlighting the Mercury-Jupiter square, the Moon makes a quick trine to Saturn in Sagittarius, providing an organizational ambiance good for catching up on your to-do list.
Day’s end sees the Moon slip from Aries into Taurus, bringing the temperature and pace down a bit. Thursday night holds no further celestial action. Simple and indulgent leisure are recommended.

February begins as the Moon in Aries makes a sextile with the Sun in Aquarius. This small harmony between the luminaries stabilizes the first portion of the day. After this cordial aspect with the Sun though, the Moon in Aries moves on to more challenging conversations, the first of which is a square to Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto absorbs some of the bright, sparky quality of the Aries Moon, darkening the evening. The Moon then proceeds on to a wee-hours conjunction with electric Uranus, triggering surprises and sudden changes of state.

The last day of the month begins with the Moon’s conjunction with Venus in Pisce — a lovely aspect which should make for a number of pleasant mornings. During the afternoon, though, the Moon enters Aries, and the atmosphere shifts decisively from Venusian to Martial. The waxing Moon conjoins Mars in Aries during the evening, giving the incendiary red planet reign over much of the day. Martial abundance of this sort is best directed into hard work or exercise.
Meanwhile, Mercury in Capricorn squares Uranus in Aries, from which innovative and odd ideas issue. Contemplate radical changes, but wait for the other planets have their say before implementing them.

The Moon slips into Pisces Sunday morning, and then proceeds towards an afternoon conjunction with the South Node. The Moon’s conjunction with the South Node makes it easier to see into the past, as well as normally concealed layers of the psyche. This theme is further attested to by Mercury’s conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn, which is exact today. With these configurations in play, mysteries can be glimpsed, secrets intuited, and complicated matters unearthed.
However, as night falls and then deepens, the Moon moves on to a dreamy, anesthetic conjunction with Neptune, which is likely to call a temporary end to investigations.

Friday begins with Venus in Pisces’ square to Saturn in Sagittarius. This combination calls for an emotional adjustment to the current demands for organization and patience in your life right now. It may deny joys, or merely delay them.
Meanwhile, the Moon joins the Sun invisibly in the afternoon sky, marking the moment of the New Moon. This New Moon in Aquarius asks us to take a step back from the whirl of events, and from that distance contemplate where things are and where they might be headed. It is worth noting that, in contradiction to the previous Full Moon, this New Moon is not configured to any of the big planetary drama afoot.
After nightfall, Mars enters Aries. Aries is one of the most potent places for the red planet. Mars burns hot in Aries, setting short fuses alight, igniting lust for accomplishment. In Aries, Mars is great for getting things done, but not so good for social harmony. Mars will be in Aries until March 9th, when it mosies into Taurus.

Thursday begins with the Moon in Capricorn’s square to the Jupiter-Uranus opposition, echoing once again the dynamics of the Full Moon. You may be pulled to compare and contrast the virtues of sudden change vs. gradual improvement, as well as to analyze what obstacles prevent you from improvement of one sort or another.
Shortly thereafter, the Moon moves on to a sextile with Venus at the end of Pisces. This usually pleasant aspect may be compromised by Venus’ applying square to Saturn, and thus may require patience in addition to offering pleasure.
From Venus, the Moon moves toward a sextile with Mars. The day thus receives a small measure of vigor, which increases as evening falls. The rowdiness of the Moon-Mars aspect fades as the night deepens, and Luna enters abstract Aquarius in preparation for tomorrow’s New Moon.

The importance of Innovation, harmony and discipline represented by Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn are all made clear by the Moon’s work on Monday night, but it will be discipline, along with organization and patience, which Monday’s skies illuminate the brightest. This is due to the Moon’s late night conjunction with Saturn, which will be visible in the hours before dawn.
