Sunday begins with the Moon in Sagittarius’ pleasant sextile to the Sun in Aquarius, beginning the day with a bit of harmony. Shortly thereafter, though, the Moon squares the Nodal Axis during the mid-day hours. Here the Head and Tail tug at the direction of the day, making for uncertain moods and trajectories.
This lack of direction is further supported by the Moon’s square to Neptune on Sunday night, which serves to distract and confuse.

Saturday is dominated by the trine between the Moon in Scorpio and Mars in Pisces. This aspect has a strong erotic component, though it facilitates other classes of desire, as well. Work concentrated on the achievement of one desire or another is favored here. The Moon-Mars trine, however, may make small-talk or casual socialization unpleasant. Focus on something you want to achieve and work toward it.
The Moon-Mars trine carries us well into the evening, though late night the atmosphere shifts as a result of the Moon’s ingress into Sagittarius. Objectives and trajectories rise to the fore, replacing the currents of passion which guided the Moon’s passage through Scorpio.

Friday sees the waning Moon in Scorpio float through trines to Neptune and then Venus in Pisces. Though today’s configurations are largely dreamy and pleasant, its configurations are very watery, and if your mood takes a turn for the worse, it may be difficult to escape its current.

The Sun changes signs today, entering Aquarius during the afternoon. In Aquarius, the Sun’s light falls on the irregular, the unorthodox, and the radical. Look to what lies outside, and you will find what the Water-Bearer blesses. Though the Sun in Aquarius is not without its gifts, it is considered a difficult sign for the Sun, leaving works of a solar nature with little support. The Sun will be in Aquarius until February 19th, when it enters Pisces.
Shortly after the Sun’s ingress into Aquarius, the Moon changes signs, entering Scorpio. Almost immediately, the newly ingressed Sun and Moon square, highlighting the friction between the detached Sun in Aquarius and the emotional intensity of the Moon in Scorpio. This angle between the two marks our entrance into the fourth quarter of the lunar month, and will see a half-moon rise at midnight.
Evening sees the Moon in Scorpio slowly close in on a late night sextile with Mercury, seeding the air with contemplation and conversation.

Wednesday sees the Moon in Libra make a host of aspects. As during the Full Moon, the Moon aspects Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Libra, though this time from a different angle.
There is one important difference, though, as Wednesday also sees Mars in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius complete a square. This is an aspect which tends toward frustration, especially with Saturn in the superior position. Obstacles loom, and progress may be slow, but for the relentless and the patient, success is inevitable.

The only aspect on Tuesday is the Libra Moon’s square to Mercury in Capricorn, which pulls the middle of the day toward conversation and speculation. Though there is nothing particularly malefic about Tuesday’s aspects, Mars’ pending square to Saturn is likely to shadow it with frustrations.

The first portion of Monday is characterized by the Moon in Virgo’ potentially irritating opposition to Mars in Pisces. You may be pulled toward exertions you would rather neglect, or possessed of a generally irritable mood. Immediately thereafter, the Moon in Virgo squares Saturn in Sagittarius, another unpleasant pairing. The brief hours between the Moon’s aspects to Mars and Saturn see the Moon in a classical besiegement, and are particularly ill-omened.
However, as the afternoon lengthens, the Moon’s trine to Sun begins to dominate, grounding and harmonizing the rest of the day and much of the night. After completing the trine to the Sun, the Moon saunters into mellow Libra, where it will be for the next several days.

Saturday begins with the Moon in Leo’s sextile with Jupiter in Libra. This is the first aspect the Moon has made to the Jupiter-Uranus opposition since the Full Moon. This angle on the opposition is friendlier, and may make the two planets’ contest easier to reconcile. Shortly after the sextile to hopeful Jupiter, the Moon completes a trine to disciplined and visionary Saturn in Sagittarius.
The evening sees the Moon exit hot Leo and enter grounded Virgo. The evening is thus colored by this shift earthward. The Moon’s received trine to Mercury also characterizes Saturday night, giving it a conversational quality suited to discussions, plans and analysis. After the trine to Mercury, though, the Moon conjoins the North Node of the Moon, giving the night an intemperate edge. Don’t overdo it, whatever it is.

The Moon in Leo wanders through Friday, without aspect to other planets until the wee hours, when it completes a trine with Uranus in Aries. Thus the daylight sees the heavens planning nothing in particular, while a few useful ideas and small surprises hang about in the night air.

Thursday begins in the wake of the potent Full Moon. Around sunrise, Mercury enters Capricorn again, this time without plans for a retrograde retreat. With this transition from Sagittarius into Capricorn, there is an accompanying shift from vision and direction to planning and structure. Mercury will be in Capricorn until February 7th, when it enters Aquarius.
Thursday also holds Venus’ conjunction to Neptune in Pisces. The aspect, complete today, offers an anesthetic salve to some of the Full Moon’s complexities. It greases certain wheels, making it easier to let things slide.
Meanwhile, the Moon enters Leo in the hours surrounding sunset. This shift gives the evening a more active, expressive atmosphere. The Moon, however, makes no aspects on Thursday, allowing space for the complexities and intensities of the Full Moon to percolate.

Wednesday is host to a potent Full Moon in Cancer. The Full Moon, at 22 Cancer, turns January’s t-square between Jupiter in Libra, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn into a full Grand Cross. January’s question of how to begin, and what to begin, is posed most clearly by this Full Moon.
The abundant silver light illuminates the complexity of the current situation, revealing its dynamics. It may, however, be too much at once. Things may, at first, seem more tangled and insoluble than they truly are. Do not rush to act. Instead, give yourself the time to digest the vision which the Full Moon offers. The first portion of Tuesday is acutely mental. Both the Sun’s exact square to Uranus and the Moon’s opposition to Mercury tend to key up the nervous system. Breakthrough and burnout are both signified, as the intensity of the current is likely to exceed the conductivity of the wiring.
As the day continues, however, the ambiance changes considerably. The Moon ingresses into Cancer during the afternoon hours, pulling energies from the head back into the heart and gut. At sunset, a swiftly-filling Moon rises, suffusing the night with bright tidal power. Pleasant reveries float about, and the ghosts of poets fill the night air with erotic murmuring, all courtesy of Luna’s late night trine with Venus in Pisces. The Moon’s ingress into Cancer and trine to Venus provides a prime moment for the sorcery of Venus’ sphere.

Much of Monday’s daylight is concerned with the Moon in Gemini’s square to Mars in Pisces. Moon-Mars squares can be irritating, lazy, or both. The trick is to get the heat right- you don’t want to undercook or burn your day.
The evening holds a different set of challenges. The Moon makes another set of aspects to the Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus configuration. From here, it is easy to see how to reconcile harmonious Jupiter with radical Uranus, though the discipline and patience required by Saturn may be more difficult to fit into the equation.Weekly Essay + Horoscope Monthly Essay + Horoscope 2017

The day begins with the Moon sauntering placidly through the late degrees of Taurus, which steadies the first portion of the day. During the afternoon, though, the Moon crosses into speedy Gemini, changing the atmosphere significantly by sundown.
Over the course of the night, the mentally overactive Moon in Gemini squares the Nodal Axis, and then Venus and Neptune in Pisces. Here both pleasures and subconscious tugs pull the activated mind off course. There is a certain confused poetry to this evening’s configurations, but serious considerations are best left to another time.

Saturday is well poised to resolve the difficult mysteries which Friday exposed. The steadying Moon in Taurus begins the day with a pleasing sextile to vigorous Mars, and the continues onward to trines with both Pluto and the Sun in Capricorn. Ambitions and actions can be brought into accord with plans. This is made all the easier by Mercury’s direct station, which offers a look through forward-facing and far-seeing eyes.

Friday begins with the Moon in Aries’ trine to a stationing Mercury in Sagittarius. There is thus a bloom of brightness and purpose to Friday’s first portion, though that clarity of direction is challenged later in the day.
Mid-day, the Moon enters Taurus, shifting things towards tangible matters. Meanwhile, though, the Sun and Pluto close in on a conjunction in Capricorn, and Venus moves into a conjunction with the South Node. These configurations challenge the vision of the road ahead sparked by the day’s Moon-Mercury trine with a glimpse into the depths of various underworlds. Deeper layers of the psyche and the world reveal themselves throughout Friday, highlighting both problematic passions and unresolved origin stories.

Much of the day during Thursday is challenging. The Moon in Aries squares the Sun and then Pluto in Capricorn. The depths of the applying Sun-Pluto conjunction may overshadow the can-do spirit of the Aries Moon, potentially extinguishing its fire.
After nightfall, though, the Moon leaves the gloom of Pluto for an innovative, if potentially disruptive, conjunction with Uranus, followed by an opposition to peaceable Jupiter and a trine to disciplinary Saturn. Thursday evening thus activates the Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus complex, highlighting the need to innovate, harmonize and structure.

Wednesday begins with Mercury’s retrograde retreat into Sagittarius, in preparation for its direct station on Saturday night. This regress into Sagittarius pulls the mind in a more aspirational, goal focused direction. Obstacles fade into the periphery as the way forward draws the eye. This shift is quick to be witnessed by the Moon in Pisces, which squares Mercury almost immediately after the Messenger’s ingress. Though the square offers insight into the cloudy feelings churned up earlier in the week, the first portion of the day may be colored by a certain grogginess or sloth.
This changes rather abruptly with the Moon’s ingress into Aries, though. The Aries Moon heats things up and gets them moving throughout the day, activating the lust for accomplishment. Wednesday is a good day to go down your to-do list and scratch off a number of items, particularly those which would have been better accomplished weeks ago.

The day begins with retrograde Mercury in Capricorn’s sextile to newly-ingressed Venus in Pisces. This is a pleasing aspect, as it positions Venus to soothe the perturbations Mercury’s retrogradation inspires. Nonetheless, the road is two-way, and misunderstandings or delays may interfere with expected pleasures.
Indeed, the postponement of gratification or comfort may be a theme, as the Moon spends most of the day in a square with Saturn in Sagittarius. This aspect, which is complete around sunset, highlights obligations and delays. It is easiest to lean into this aspect and focus on discharging your duties efficiently so that you might enjoy the evening.

Monday begins with the Moon in Pisces’ conjunction with the South Node, a configuration which pulls the psyche toward preoccupation with old and unresolved matters or sourceless discomforts. It is good for contemplation and day dreams, but may distract from practical matters.
After night falls, the Moon conjoins Neptune and then Mars in Pisces, which churns up a strange combination of vigor and fantasy. Though some may find themselves lost in entertainment, this configuration reaches into poorly understood depths of the psyche and activates intense emotions. Fortunately, Venus joins the Moon, Neptune and Mars in Pisces shortly thereafter, offering the night a measure of grace. For more on Venus’ ingress into Pisces, see “January 2017: Opening Gambit.” This harmonizing theme is continued by the Sun and Moon, which make a balancing sextile during the wee hours.

The year begins with the Moon in Aquarius’s aspects to the tight nest of configurations between Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Libra and Saturn in Sagittarius. Luna aspects them all from a copacetic angle during the first half of the day, highlighting the particular mixture of adaptability, discipline and optimism which the Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus requires.
After an active morning, the Moon spends the rest of the day chasing a pleasant conjunction with Venus at the end of Aquarius, which will be visible in the evening sky, just after sunset. After completing the conjunction, the Moon drops from the abstract heights of Aquarius into the felt deeps of Pisces, where it will be for the next several days. This shift toward the concealed is continued by the Moon’s late-late night sextile to retrograde Mercury in Capricorn, which dredge ideas and insights from the depths.
