Saturn and Pluto conjoin perfectly today. It is their first and only exact union since the early 80’s, with another not scheduled to arrive for decades to come. As I wrote of this pairing in yesterday’s entry,
“This brings thought and communications to bear on hard, heavy, enduring, and intimidating matters. These skew toward the extremes of scale, both the deeply, intergenerationally personal and the grand historical-global. Structures, blockages, and the like are easy to map under this configuration, but not nearly so easy to resolve.”
The Sun conjoins the pair today and tomorrow, further emphasizing the forbidding terrain on display.

There are two separate themes today. The first is described by the agitated Moon in Leo, which is first electrified by a disruptive square to Uranus, and then inflamed by a trine with Mars in Sagittarius. The mood and energy is hot and active.
The second half of today is Mercury’s exact conjunctions with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, which will perfect their conjunction with each other tomorrow. This brings thought and communications to bear on hard, heavy, enduring, and intimidating matters. These skew toward the extremes of scale, both the deeply, intergenerationally personal and the grand historical-global. Structures, blockages, and the like are easy to map under this configuration, but not nearly so easy to resolve.

Friday’s skies are full of portents. First, Mercury and the Sun conjoin perfectly during the morning hours. Mercury, on the far side of the Sun from the Earth, acts as an antenna for sending and receiving ideas from further out.
Only hours later, across the Earth from the Sun and Mercury, the Full Moon is reddened by shadow. The penumbral eclipse which occurs today is the counterpart of the solar eclipse two weeks ago. While the solar eclipse on the Tail showed us how to sweep away the unnecessary, this lunar eclipse suggests what we might fill that void with. This powerful lunation will mobilize great tides of feeling, as it churns up what we care most deeply about.
As if the Sun-Mercury conjunction and a lunar eclipse were not enough, today also seeing Uranus station direct, bringing an end to months of retrograde motion. Uranus’ about-face adds a catalytic spark to the celestial downpour, further volatizing today’s high-octane cocktail.

The Moon spends the day entwined with Jupiter and the Dragon’s Head and Tail, preparing the sky for tomorrow’s eclipse by reinforcing the ongoing process of letting-go and taking-on. Snakes need friction in order to shed their skin. Molting is not an instantaneous process. We need things to press up against.

The fidgety Moon in Gemini spends the daylight in a charming trine with Venus in Aquarius, lending Wednesday a congenial and somewhat stimulating atmosphere.
Meanwhile, in another part of the sky, Jupiter and the Tail of the Dragon perfect their conjunction. Here is the wisdom in letting go, in letting treasured burdens drop away. Like snakes, we must skin-shed old knowings when we get too big for them. Progress does not always mean moving from one point to another on a map. Sometimes it means growing a better map. This process has been ongoing for weeks, and will continue for weeks, but has a quiet spotlight put on it today.
Late night sees the Moon leave mental Gemini. Luna enters felt, subtle Cancer to prepare for the upcoming eclipse on the 10th.
